What is aerothermal energy?

Aerothermal energy is an air conditioning technology (it produces heat, cold and domestic hot water) and includes all systems that allow energy to be extracted from the outside air. The most used is the heat pump. The only electricity consumption required is to run the compressor motor, which for every kWh it uses, is capable of generating between 3 and 4 kWh of heat energy in temperate climates.

One of the main characteristics of the heat pump is therefore its high energy efficiency: around 200-300% in cold climates and 300-400% in temperate climates, compared to the 100% limit of a gas condensing boiler. In addition, the use of aerothermal energy through the heat pump avoids the emission of fumes from local combustion, reduces the use of non-renewable elements (oil, natural gas...) and contributes to the reduction of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere and the fight against climate change.

Therefore, aerothermal energy is presented as a solution that incorporates a mature and efficient technology, which uses energy from renewable sources, and therefore contributes to meeting the target of renewables over total energy consumption.

Aerothermal energy has become the energy of the future to replace natural gas or other combustion heating systems. The aerotermia has the qualification of renewable energy and saves up to 25% on the natural gas bill or up to 50% in the case of diesel.

Advantages of aerothermal energy

Aerothermia is considered a renewable energy because it takes advantage of an inexhaustible source such as the air in the environment to extract all the thermal energy from it. In addition, its high thermal efficiency can reach 300% or 400% in temperate climates: for each kW of electricity needed for the heat pump to work, it can produce up to 4 kW of thermal energy. • It is a very efficient system: it has lower energy consumption than a conventional heating system.
• It does not require much maintenance: it does not use complex mechanisms and its maintenance is similar to that of any other household appliance. It has very low maintenance costs.
• The installation of the equipment is simple: it does not require a lot of works and can even take advantage of a previous installation of underfloor heating or radiators.
• There is no boiler: therefore there is no combustion that could pollute or cause accidents. It does not use any fossil fuel.
• Produces heat and cold in the home with a single unit: the aerothermal heat pump is capable of generating heat and cold, simply by reversing the cycle.
• It produces significant economic savings: aerothermal energy will considerably reduce the energy bill.
• The return on investment occurs in a short time in most cases.
